Long Beach Restaurants
Long Beach has a long list of restaurant choices, even when compared to other parts of the Los Angeles metropolitan area. Because it is one of the more ethnically diverse cities in LA County, cooking styles from all over the world are represented. These range from upscale New American restaurants to family-run Cambodian and Italian eateries.
Here are the best restaurants in Long Beach.
Budget
Some of the tastiest Cambodian food on the west coast is found in Long Beach. Siem Reap (1810 E Anaheim St) is probably one of the areas best and most authentic of these Khmer eateries. New Paradise (1350 E Anaheim St) is another popular choice, while Sophy's Thai & Cambodian (3720 E Anaheim St) throws some fiery Thai favorites into the mix. All these restaurants offer quality food at reasonable prices. The bill probably won’t even top $10 per person.
The Deli News (5555 Stearns St) is a family-owned Italian restaurant. It makes up for its small size and limited menu with good home-cooked dishes from the Old World and a friendly staff. The owners often stop by your table to see how you are doing. This is definitely one of the most welcoming places in all of LA County.
Value
Café Bixby and Pizza (3900 Atlantic Ave) is a laid-back family-style eatery with classic American favorites and hand-made pizza. If you are searching for some culinary excitement, this is not your place. But if you simply want a decent meal and a relaxing experience, this is one of Long Beach’s best options.
Zephyr Vegetarian Café (340 E 4th St) is one of the most popular raw/vegetarian restaurants in town. If you are seeking a meatless oasis in Long Beach, you could do a lot worse than Zephyr.
Enrique's (6210 E Pacific Coast Highway) is a popular Mexican restaurant. The food must be good if people are willing to wait as long as they do for a table. On busy nights, would-be patrons don’t even blink at standing in line for 30-45 minutes.
Splurge
There are several fine-dining eateries aboard the Queen Mary. Aside from taking a tour, you can have diner at Sir Winston's, a formal but not overly formal eatery that dishes out European and California cuisine at a stiff price. This is not a tuxedo-wearers-only place, but semi-formal clothing is required. Tibbies Cabaret is another restaurant aboard the Queen Mary. It features diner, live theater performances, and a more relaxed atmosphere than Winston’s.
