The city boasts a lineup of impressive attractions and tourists hotspots, but there’s plenty history and culture to take in around the downtown area. Visit the Chamizal National Memorial: The memorial honors the Chamizal Convention of 1963 and is a wonderful way to learn about the culture and history of the borderland. Explore the War Eagles Air Museum: This collection of historic aircraft from World War II and the Korean War are a real treat for aviation and history enthusiast. If you’re on a tight budget, make sure to add this one to the day’s schedule; admission is just $5 for adults and children and students get in free. The venue also features a gift shop and demonstrations of automobiles, military equipment and aircraft engines.
Head to the El Paso Zoo: It’s considered to be one of the most impressive animal and exotic species collections in the State, so plan to spend at least a day or two exploring the zoo grounds. The venue offers Zoo Adventures and private tours from the Zoological Society, along with exhibits featuring orangutans, baby siamangs, elephants, giraffes and other zoo favorites. For just $5 a ticket, this is a real bargain for any budget traveler.
